“The global market in income additives is projected to grow considerably during the projected period” says Visiongain
15 October 2019
Visiongain’s new report the Ink Additives Market Report 2020-2030: Forecasts by Type (Rheology Modifiers, Dispersing & Wetting Agents, Foam Control Additives, Slip/Rub Materials, Others), By Technology (Solvent-Based, Water-Based), By Process (Lithographic, Gravure, Flexographic, Digital, Others), By Application (Packaging, Publishing, Commercial Printing), By Region (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Middle East & Africa) and analysis of leading companies operating in this industry.
Due to increased demand by the packaging industry, the global market in income additives is projected to grow considerably during the projected period. The additional products enhance performance, color, appearance, finish, printing capacity, 3-D effects and ink adhesion. The type of additive used is based on the product and application characteristics. For example, during the manufacturing process, defoamers prevent moaning and are suitable for water flexographic and gravure prints.
The major product types on the market are rheology modifiers, slip / rub, defoamers and dispersants. The modificators of the rheology sector play a prominent role. The synthetic waters and solvents can also be divided into inorganic and cellulosic. Generally, the rheological profiled of the tinctures is adjusted. The use of slip / rot materials as polishes and the increasing demand for end-users, such as inkjet, graphic art and publishing are also expected to become highly lucrative. Dispersants are used to stabilize pigments, binder particles and fillers, and defoamers are added during the production procedure to minimize foam formation.
Packaging, publishing and commercial printing are the main applications on the market. Because of the growth in production capacity and the increasing demand for packaged food, the packaging accounts for around 40 per cent of the industry. For example, Flint Group in 2017 opened a new packaging division facility in Turkey, a leading company serving the global printing, conversion and coloring industries.
Companies are further participating in the launch of new products in the end-use industry to meet growing demand. Toyo Ink Brasil Ltda, for instance, in June 2018. New polyurethane-based high-performance surface and flexographic tinctures were introduced for printing and engraving.
However, the industry faced a major challenge with strict regulations on food packaging. Products must comply with a variety of regulations, such as REACH, Proposition 65 of Californien and EPA, which are designed to preserve food safety and to prevent toxic chemical movements from inks to food products. Thus, limitations on final use such as compliance with Nestle and low migration during production of inks and additives are also considered.
