“Commercial Counter-UAV market to total USD 11.5 billion in 2029” says new Visiongain report

16 September 2019
Aviation

The Commercial Counter-UAV market is estimated to witness a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 44.3 per cent from 2019 to 2029.

The rising vulnerability of sensitive government facilities, high-level politicians and large public crowds to domestic terrorist attacks is having a profound, driving effect on the market.

In recent years, several other factors have also had a positive effect on the Commercial C-UAV market. For example, the rate of close encounters between airliners and unmanned aircraft has increased, and there has been an industry-wide realisation that existing air defence systems and anti-aircraft weaponry are incapable of detecting, targeting and destroying small drones.

Visiongain anticipates that global investment and consolidation will be stratospherically strong over the next decade. The market’s good health is due to the factors listed above as well as the presence of established companies, such as Battelle, Black Sage Technologies, Blighter Surveillance Systems, Department 13, DroneShield, Liteye Systems, MyDefence Communication, Flex Force Enterprises, Robin Radar Systems and WhiteFox.

The senior aviation analyst said: "The Global Commercial Counter-UAV market is expected to generate sales of USD 292.5 million in 2019.

"The vulnerability of government facilities to domestic terrorist and espionage attacks, the rise in close encounters between manned and unmanned aircraft and the increase in popularity of using drones to smuggle contraband into secure premises will likely accelerate this market’s growth over the next few years.

"Indeed, by 2029, the Commercial C-UAV market will have surpassed the 10 billion-pound mark, achieving a total sales figure of USD 11.46 billion.

"Having said this, there are currently several restraining factors that present a challenge to this industry – such as an absence of international standards for the design of counter-drone technologies and significant uncertainty over the legality of using such systems in non-military environments."
