Ammonia Market – Our new market research study shows trends, developments, progress in R&D and forecast revenue till 2031. It is estimated that by 2020, the world ammonia market in volume will reach 152,000,000 metric tonnes and will expand by 4.2 per cent over 2021-2031. Over the next 10 years, global capacities in ammonia are projected to increase by 4 percent. Capacity growth is expected in Africa, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia, in addition to increases in North America. As a result of regional nitrogen deficits, increased ammonia demand is expected in Latin America and South Asia. The continued demand for nitrogen fertilizers continues with large corn plantings.

What are the key factors to reshaping the growth of the Ammonia market? To find out, you must read this newly updated report if you are one of the stake holder of this market. This exclusive report by Visiongain shows you potential revenue opportunity pool until 2031 for the assessment of data, trends, opportunities and business outlooks.

What factors could lead to an expansion of the Ammonia market?
All nitrogen fertilizers are mainly supplied with ammonia. Ammonia containing 82 percent nitrogen is the main source of nitrogen in different forms of fertilizer used in crop production. Ammonia may be directed to the soil or as a raw material used for producing nitrogen fertilizers such as urea, ammonia nitrate and nitrogen as a fertiliser. It can also be used to produce more complex fertilizer such as DAP and MAP, both of which are the two principal phosphate fertilizer used for the production of crops by farmers. For manufacture, DAP can also be used. It’s an ingredient. In addition, ammonia and ammonia derivatives are the basic material used by farmers for several nitrogen formulations, phosphate and potash containing mixed fertilizers in combination with potassium and phosphatic acid. Changes in the price of ammonia are common in nitrogen fertilizers and change in prices. Faced with higher ammonia prices, farmers might be able to reduce losses in net returns by adopting nitrogen-saving crop production practices.

The cost to produce ammonia and the cost to ship ammonia are Crucial Factors
Two main factors that will help determine future sources for the global ammonia supply are the cost of producing ammonia and the cost for ships from other countries to American markets. A relatively low price for natural gas in the US would favor US-produced ammonia due to low shipping costs and a relatively low price for natural gas would benefit ammonia imports due to low production costs. The main ammonia suppliers in the US are likely to be countries which have relatively low ammonia prices and low shipping ammonia to the U.S. markets. For an ammonia exporter to compete, a country needs to make a major initial investment to develop an ammonia transportation infrastructure. Ammonia is a dangerous substance and must be transferred in cooled vessels or in containers under pressure. There are also substantial costs for construction of new ammonia export plants

How Price Fluctuations Are Troubling Ammonia Producers?
High transport costs limit imports from Eastern Europe. In the Black Sea Region of eastern Europe (Russia and Ukraine), the costs of production of ammonia in the region are relatively low because of relative low natural gas prices. However, because of the long distance to the United States the costs for ammonia from these countries to the U.S. markets are comparatively high. Trade-distorting gas prices in Russia are keeping domestic gas prices low, with Russian sub-prices being sold at much higher prices on external markets. Further increases in US natural gas prices could result in a continuing decrease in US production of ammonia and increased US imports of ammonia. A significant increase in US imports of ammonia is probably due to its relatively low price of natural gas and large gas reserves, from Trinidad and Tobago in the short run and from Venezuela in the future.

How are you going to tackle the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic?
In addition to the reduction in population growth, COVID-19 is expected to lead to a further reduction in economic activity by 2020 to 2030.

Despite the serious effects of the pandemic, the top ammonia producers will likely advance their next ammonia project. The Top 10 Countries are expected to receive a total of 46.5 million tonnes per year (mTPA), four of which are more than 2/3 or 33.2 mtpa. With 9.2 mtpa and 8.7 mtpa, both India and Iran lead. Global ammonia projects currently in the pipeline can suffer start-up delays due to increased assurance regarding phasing and scheduling, but depend largely on the duration and severity of the COVID-19 outbreak.

This was seen by a number of companies announcing capex cuts this year as an immediate and positive sign for mixed reactions from leading ammonia farmers. Companies seek to maximise production dynamically and schedule their investments to sustain productivity and development over a long period of time. Yara International remains committed to investment but has indicated that COVID-19 optimization can delay some expenses. Producers continue to analyse their businesses’ capital structure to find new economic investment opportunities.

What regions are the champions of Ammonia market growth?
Production capacity is limited in imports from the Middle East and North Africa. Natural gas prices are the lowest in the world in Middle East and Northern Africa because massive reserves of gas are well above the local demand in these areas. Low ammonia production capacities restrict significant ammonia exports from countries in these regions. In addition, if countries in the Middle East were exporters of ammonia, the cost of shipments of ammonia in Asian markets (India and China), rather than in US (Stokes), to the countries of the Middle East (Arab Gulf Region).
