Another production line for specialized alumina has been added to the Gramercy refinery.

In the first eight months of 2018, the average prices free with ships were $560 a ton, 22 percent higher than those of the same period in 2017, and ranged between $xx a ton and $xx a ton, respectively. for imports from the US for metallurgical-grade alumina. The Malaysian Government began to prohibit bauxite mining by the end of 2018 at least but allowed the export of stockpiled bauxite. Media outlets revealed the continuation of illegal mining in certain mines. In January 2016, the prohibition was enforced because of issues concerning pollution from mines and exposed ships. The Government of Brazil requested in February to close down one half of its capacity by ordering a refinery with alumina of 6.3 million tonnes / year and a nearly ten million tonnes / year mine of bauxite, referring to worries about possible cracks in waste fields following the area’s high precipitation.

In June a Guinean alumina refinery was reopened and was closed down in 2012 by mid-2019. The labor dispute in Australia between August 8 and September 30 involved approximately 1600 out of 3 500 staff working at two mines of bauxite and three alumina refineries. The United States in April Treasury Department, in cooperation with the United States State Department, appointed several Russian people and enterprises to sanctions in reaction to the Government of Russia’s operations.
