Visiongain’s new 298 page report Small Scale Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Market 2016-2026: Liquefaction, Regasification, Satellite Station, Bunkering & Fuelling Station and Small Scale LNG Carriers Forecasts indicates that the Small Scale LNG market will see CAPEX of $2.539bn in 2016.
While a focus on large scale installations and a pursuit of economies of scale has been the historical norm in the LNG market, recent years have seen a growth in investment in small scale installations. Technological advancements, geographical considerations and new uses of LNG have all influenced the market for LNG infrastructure at a smaller scale.
The lead analyst of the report commented that: “The small scale LNG market is entering a period of significant investment, with high levels of spending expected in both mature and emerging markets. Small scale LNG installations are ideally suited for geographically stranded markets, areas with low energy demand and for the monetisation of smaller natural gas reserves or flared gas. Small scale terminals can also be used to strategically shorten distances between the less numerous large scale plants and gas markets to offer more economically viable solutions than their large scale counterparts. Peak shaving and the storage and supply of LNG to remote industrial and residential users are also important applications of small scale LNG. Growing emission concerns, reflected in increasingly strict environmental and emission targets, are also playing an increasingly important role in the market by encouraging the use of LNG as a fuel and the development of the associated infrastructure (i.e. bunkering facilities for vessels and LNG fuelling stations for vehicles).”
The 298 page report contains 193 tables and figures that add visual analysis in order to explain developing trends within the small scale LNG market. Visiongain provides global forecasts in terms of capital expenditure (US$) for the period 2016-2026. In addition to these global forecasts, there are six submarkets individually analysed and forecast (Small Scale Liquefaction, Small Scale Regasification, LNG Satellite Stations, LNG Bunkering Facilities for Vessels, LNG Fuelling Stations for Road Vehicles and Small Scale LNG Carriers).
The market has also been broken down into six regional or national markets (China, US, Europe, Indonesia, Japan and RoW), with submarket forecasts and analysis provided for each. The report provides insight into the level of development of different regional and submarket spaces, with reference to operating installations and project tables. Profiles and analysis of the main companies and technology providers in the market are provided, along with an overview of companies operating in different submarkets. The report also underpins visiongain’s analysis by including the transcripts of three exclusive expert interviews with companies involved in the small scale LNG market.
The Small Scale Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Market 2016-2026 report will be of value to anyone who wants to better understand the industry and its dynamics. It will be useful for businesses already involved in any of the identified submarkets, or for those wishing to enter this evolving market in the future.

Large proven oil & gas reserves of Canada coupled with growing investments in the building the country’s oil & gas infrastructure is expected to augment the demand for Canadian oil & gas. Favourable government policies and high demand for LNG from countries other than the U.S. is also anticipated to drive demand over the forecast period.
