LPG is made up of Propane, Butane or Propane / Butane Mixture at ambient pressure above its boiling point temperature, is a gas that is stored in liquid-shaped pressure containers (tanks). Vapor occupies the space in the tank that is not filled with liquid. Due to the use of this vapor as fuel for connected equipment (burners, heaters, etc.), liquid LPG must vaporize, i.e. change its state from liquid to gas to occupy the space above the liquid.

A vaporizer is designed to receive the liquid LPG and increase the temperature (heat the liquid) at the delivery pressure well above the boiling point. In other words, a vaporizer generates the (heat) energy needed to maintain the LPG's gaseous state. There are two main types of propane vaporizers: vaporizers that supply a small portion of the vaporized LPG as a burner fuel that supplies the heat for the vaporization process (i.e. water bath vaporizers); and vaporizers that use an external heat source, such as steam or hot water, to vaporize the propane.

Leading companies featured in the report who are developing and working in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Vaporizing industry are; ALGAS-SD, Standby Systems, Inc., Alternate Energy Systems, Inc., TransTech Energy, Inc., Meeder Equipment, Pegoraro Gas Technologies Srl, ADCENG Gas Equipment (Pty) Ltd., SHV Energy, Aether DBS, LLC and Tamura Corporation.
