Visiongain’ has launched a new 516 page yearbook 3D Printing Yearbook 2018: Additive Manufacturing (AM) Market Forecasts in Automotive by Technology (MJP, DMLS, FDM, SLA, SLM, EBM, LMD, SLS, LOM, 0thers) by Material (Metal, Polymers, Ceramics, Other), by Application (Prototyping, Tooling, R&D Innovation, Manufacturing Complex Parts, Others), Aerospace & Defence by Application (Prototyping, End Use Parts, Manufacturing & Tooling, Specialised Tooling), by Type (Space, Defence, Commercial Aerospace), by Material (Metal, Polymer, Ceramics), by Technology FDM, EBM, DMLS) Healthcare by Products (Dental Products, Medical Implants, Bio-Printing, Others), by Technology (Hardware, Software, Services) Plus Top Companies.
In a broad sense 3D printing is not a new phenomenon. However, 3D printing: as additive manufacturing is the new trend. The first commercial general purpose 3D printers were designed and launched in the United States in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, additive manufacturing (AM) has now reached a growth phase after more than a twenty-five-year incubation. It is billed as a technology which can bring about a third industrial revolution, powered by increase in demand for prototyping and complex product manufacturing. The technology results in reduction in material wastage, lowering costs and brings down the environmental impact from traditional subtractive manufacturing processes.
The Visiongain analyst commented "OEMs and service providers are collaborating to develop efficient AM process and manufacturing systems, and they have successfully deployed the same. By technology, the 3D printing: automotive additive manufacturing technology market is segmented by multijet printing, direct metal laser sintering (DMLS), fused disposition modelling (FDM), stereolithography (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS), electronic beam melting (EBM), laser metal disposition (LMD), and selective laser melting (SLM) among others. SLS contributes a major market share in 2017 followed by stereolithography. DMLS technology accounted for the smallest share of the total market in 2017. However, the DMLS segment is anticipated to grow at a significant rate during the forecast period."
Leading companies featured in the report who are developing 3D printing technology include Stratasys Inc., Arcam AB, 3D Systems, Proto Labs Inc., SLM Solutions, Materialise, ExOne GmbH, and EOS GmbH, among others.
